It's nice to read about what's going on in Jarv's mind and his approach to writing his 'lyrics'. Though he says they're not poetry because the rhyme of a lyric is something different - I teach poetry with lyrics so definitely have to disagree. I even teach the form of 'lyric poetry' so Faber's new editor-at-large should fix up a little!
Some of the lyrics are horrendous, like the poetry I'd come up with when 16 and angry at the world. These are laughably bad and you end up feeling a bit awkward for him. But of course it gets better; this is definitely an advert for not giving up on something, even if it's shockingly bad at first!
